What a wonderful and informative site on Alan Marshal. Like many, I absolutely adored him in White Cliffs of Dover. To be honest, prior to this film, I didn't seem to take too much notice of him before. And, he's Australian born! Bravo.

Thank you so much for this beautiful site! I have always wanted to know more about Alan Marshal- there was so little information about him available out there previously. It's a shame he doesn't get more recognition here in Australia as one of the few Hollywood stars who was born here. I've been a fan of his since seeing "The White Cliffs of Dover".

Alan Marshall was a very handsome gentleman who added a touch of class to every film role.

One of my favorite films is "The White Cliffs Of Dover". I thought that Irene Dunne & Alan made a striking screen pair and were well matched both physically & professionally.

I just watched Tom, Dick or Harry this evening. I looked up your father's bio on wikipedia, nice to find this site. I've always enjoyed seeing your father on TCM. Great that you created this site.

  Dear Mr. Marshal,

I've been interested in your late father ever since I saw him in LYDIA (1941) alongside Merle Oberon, one of my favorite classic actresses. I also like his performances in THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME (1939) and WHITE CLIFFS OF DOVER (1944) and I'm looking forward to seeing him in the comedy TOM DICK AND HARRY (1941) on TCM later this month. I find him a very likable and charming actor.

If I may ask, did your father have any stories regarding Ms. Oberon during production of LYDIA or off the set? If so, I'd love to hear about them.

Sincerely,

Peter Andres

  Dear Mr. Marshal,
Since it is obvious that you love and revere your late father, could you not be more alert to typos on the site? For instance, in the family tree, you show your maternal grandfather and great grandfather as Antione Borel. Elsewhere it is spelled Antoine, which I assume is the correct spelling. In your father's biography, you refer to yourself as "there" son, instead of "their" son. I do not know if there are any other typos, but these jumped out at me. I came to this website because I saw "The White Cliffs of Dover" last night, and enjoyed your father's performance immensely and wanted to know more about him.
Sincerely,
Patricia
